Bengaluru: On 18 January 2026, a delegation of the KWA Team, led by its Secretary Somashekar, met the Hon’ble Union Minister for State for Jal Shakti and Railways, Government of India, V. Somanna, at his office in Vijayanagar, Bengaluru, and submitted a memorandum highlighting several long-pending civic and infrastructure concerns affecting the Kasturinagar and Old Madras Road region.
The memorandum focused on three major public issues:
-
Immediate desilting of the Benniganahalli North Side Lake, which, as per official records, falls under the jurisdiction of the Railways.
-
Widening and opening of an additional vent at the road railway underbridge near Vivekananda Park to enable two-way traffic movement between Kasturinagar and Old Madras Road.
-
Construction of a pedestrian foot overbridge (skywalk) across the railway track to ensure safe crossing for residents and daily commuters between Kasturinagar and Old Madras Road.
Responding promptly, the Hon’ble Minister directed his staff to forward the memorandum to the South Western Railway (SWR) officials in New Delhi and instructed them to arrange a direct meeting between the SWR authorities and the KWA Team to address and resolve the issues at the earliest.
The meeting, which had been pending due to the Minister’s busy schedule, was successfully facilitated with the support of Venkatesh, Director, KWA. The KWA Team expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister, his officials, and all those who played a role in enabling this important engagement for the welfare of the local community.
